Message from Mrs Krysia Butwilowska - Principal (06/12/13)
Christmas is slowly approaching and the Christmas Trees in the Reception area have been decorated by two students Maisie Whitt and Samantha Sainsbury both from Year 8. They demonstrated ingenuity with the assembly and creativity with the decorations. They added the finishing touches to the tree by placing a star on the top.

Last Friday, The Parker Academy opened its doors to 110 Year 4 and 5 children from a range of Primary schools. These included Falconers Hill Junior School, Braunston, The Grange, Welton and Ashby Fields.
The day was led by our Student Ambassadors from Year 8 and 9 who have received training from University of First Age (UFA) and Gateway. Activities that our Ambassadors led included “See, Say, Do” which was a very active (and noisy!) session. Almost every child enjoyed ‘Trains’ which was a team work game delivered by the Ambassadors.
There was also much fun to be had in “The Power of Positivity” and “My Brilliant Brain” where our visitors learnt about different learning styles and how to make the most of their memory.
Comments from our visitors about the day included “It was great fun!”, “Super fun!” and “I loved the Library”. Comments from their teachers about our students included:
“I was really impressed!” and “They were fantastic and held the children’s attention well”.
Our Ambassadors really enjoyed the challenges of the day “I can’t wait to do it again!”, “I loved it!”, “I think I have improved my confidence”, “I thought the Primary school children would be more nervous but they were very brave” and “I was surprised at how well the children interacted with us”.
We shall be welcoming more Year 4 and 5 children and their teachers to the next Super Learner Day in February so watch this space!
Year 11 BTEC Science Catch-Up - for all students in SL4 3:20-4:20pm (Tuesdays) with Ms Dhillon.
PE Policy – Mr B Dugdale
To clarify the policy for non-participation in PE. If a student has a medical note excusing them from PE and if their condition allows, they will still be expected to bring their PE kit into the Academy and get changed so that they can take on a coaching, officiating or leadership role. This will enable them to safely make progress in PE and also keep their uniform clean if the lesson takes place outside.
If they need to wear a coat/jacket over the top of their PE kit because of their medical condition to keep warm and dry then this is acceptable in cold or wet weather.
Trial Exam Timetables
Please be advised that letters and timetables will be issued next week and information will be placed on the website.
